My xbox 360 isnt reading disks?

i have to turn the xbox off then off for it to read the disk and it says "open tray" even when the disk is in... it wont read my dragon age II disk, it has no scratches on it, but it says it is unreadable...

i heard that a quick fix would be to take mayonnaise and spread it over the disc and leave it sitting for about half an hour (something about the oils in the mayo helps repair it) after that you have to wipe of the mayonnaise with something made of cashmere (only certain materials can remove the mayo without damaging if you cant find any cashmere or something of equal value then use your tongue.My xbox 360 isnt reading disks?
If you know anything about electronics or know someone who does, this may or may not be an easy fix. First you must take apart your xbox, don't do this if it is still under warranty, if its under warranty just send it in. If it's not, then take it apart to where you get to the dvd tray. Take the cover off of the dvd drive and you'll see your laser. Look behind your laser you'll see two brass colored pots (potentiometers). Get a meter reader. One pot is for cd, one is for dvd. The one with a higher reading (ohms) will be around 5.~....just lower that with a screwdriver to NO LESS THAN 2.8, or you will burn your laser out. It does not take much to lower this, about 1/4 of a turn. This has worked for me in many cases. If this does not work, then switch out the laser with another from a diff xbox. Please note you cannot just switch dvd drives from another xbox without flashing the firmware, so this method is much easier. I'm completely serious I have done this method at least ten times and fixed em all, this does work just do as said above. Hope this helps!My xbox 360 isnt reading disks?
Don`t listen to those freak`s--I had the exact same problem just a few week`s ago and here`s what i did,,



Contact xbox helpline and the guy will direct you through some thing`s to try to sort the problem...



It didn`t work so they took it away for free within a few days of the call and about a week later i got it back cleaned/working and a free 3 month xbox live card haha.



I think your xbox still has to be under warrenty but if not then try anyway as there has been so many problem`s that they might help you..



When they come to get it then take all the cables out/games and hard drive and just hand them the console



BEFORE you phone though i sugest you try a few different game`s in it just in case it`s the game that`s not working.
